The author explores cultural interactions in the village of Parfenovo at Altai territory of the first half of the 20th century, where the settlers from the Southern-Russian (Kursk) and Ukrainian (Chernigov) region have lived together. The article is based on field materials of EastSlavic ethnographic expeditions collected in 2005–2015. The author takes into account the factor of co-existence of these migrants in their former places of residence in the south of Kursk province, lasting before resettlement. Until resettlement to Siberia there in Sudzha county of Kursk province the representatives of different ethnic and cultural groups (Kursk Russians, Ukrainians) adhered circles of marital relations. There at the new location the villagers began to enter into “multimodal” marriages actively. The author tried to find out what factors influenced on transformation and degree of preservation of the wedding ceremonies of the inhabitants in Parfenovo village. The phenomena of cultural interference manifested the pattern “alike amplified alike” on condition that there existed a suitable replacement (e. g. ceremonial round loaf “karavay” could be replaced by pancakes). On the contrary, a significant difference between ethnic traditions leads to their weakening (oblivion). Under influence of old dwelling residents of Parfenovka village external form of Chernigov and Kursk rites was transformed, but substantial part of them remained until suppression of popular culture in the 1930s-1950s. These mechanisms of cultural interference contributed to the development of common village traditions which have formed specifics of the local wedding in the first half of the 20th century.
