The article describes the Ballad of the Roms-Lovara (in Romani and Russian): its authentic text and the additional verses added by its modern interpreter. The Ballad’s content is analyzed in the context of ethnic Romani culture. The recurring motives and strong verbal formulas, characteristic for Lovara folklore and dating back to the Hungarian folk tradition are defined.
