Body

On the basis of the author’s childhood memories this article attempts to reproduce and understand the peculiarities of everyday life of the family and its socio-cultural environment at the beginning of the 1950s in one of small towns of Altay Region. Through the perception of a child, recreated verbally and reconsidered by an adult, it is showing pictures of life at a small city that has grown out of a settlement near a railroad station and resettlement villages. Cases of intergeneration transition of traditional culture are given and its mechanisms are explained. It is exemplified in axiological and value coherence and association in the child’s individual experiences of visual and verbal-musical art images from traditional culture, as spiritual verses, icons, hagiography, folk songs, female handicraft, games and entertainments of children. Attention is drawn to the gradual process of growing awareness for coexistence and mutual influence between church, folk Christianity and secular principles of the national culture. These items are related to author’s forthcoming choice of professional scholarly interests.
