The article suggests analysis of the chordophones which are seldom mentioned in the Udmurt Ethnomusicology. We reveal archaic layer of the Udmurts stringed bow instruments and stringed musical instruments played by plucking from the written sources of XIX—XX centuries and field materials of XX—XXI centuries. Comparative analysis of methods of playing and names of parts of the string instruments reveals genesis and place of the Udmurt musical instruments in the world.
