The belief that people with evil eye could harm another person, livestock, birds, plants, and objects was widespread all over Lithuania. People and animals affected by evil eye become sad, they stop moving, turn blue, black, die, they begin to shout, cry, turn somersaults, their hearts wither and become empty, their stomach hurts and legs shake, they stop growing and even die. They confuse things. The effect of an evil eye can be countered by magic and use of various protective means.
