Body

This article considers an innovative form of popularizing the intangible cultural heritage — a pedagogical workshop on the Web that is operating in the Republic of Mari El, based on the research and resources of a classical university, schools and gymnasiums. The author presents the workshop’s activity as a continuation and development of the previously existing experimental sites of the Federal Institute for the Development of Education. She discusses the workshop’s experimental work on cultural adaptation, the presentation of regional folklore in regular and extracurricular activities for younger schoolchildren, and discusses the interpretation of folklore as presented in the students’ projects and activities. The uniqueness of this work, according to the author, lies in its emphasis on the local folklore tradition as systematized by specialists of Mari State University and presented with the help of information and communication technologies (in the form of electronic educational resources). It applies the principle of “unity in diversity” and applies the SAMR model in formulating and implementing educational and project undertakings. The author describes project activities on the topic of “Children’s urban mythology: the creation of collective and individual projects by schoolchildren using information and communication technologies,” that are carried out within this framework. The given project concerns children’s presentation and interpretation of the fairy tale genre. It involves a joint child and adult project dedicated to the comprehension of a fairy tale within the framework of a theatrical performance; creating video reviews by children on the TikTok platform; and participation of younger students in the selection of material and the creation of illustrations for the text, connected in particular to the popular contemporary game genre of the visual novel. The author emphasizes the importance of these techniques to popularize traditional culture and to create an individual cultural and educational environment. She also provides an overview of other forms of cultural and educational popularization of the intangible cultural heritage that are employed in the region.
