This article is devoted to Buryat lullabies which belong to a comic narrative about a wife who warns her lover that her husband has returned home and that he should not come visit. It establishes the area in which these lullabies circulate, based on expeditionary and published materials. Examples of lullabies with musical notes about an unfaithful wife, recorded from nine performers are published here for the first time. They indicate their inclusion in the Buryat lullaby tradition, on the one hand, and on the other, display the features that distinguish this type of lullaby. The main marker of these lullabies are lyrics that report the location of the father of the family’s house and of the equipment for hunting, horse and dog, in and around the dwelling. It is significant that this plot was also recorded among Tuvans, Tod-Zhins and Khakass-Sagays. Along with the definite features in common among the Buryat and Turkic variants of the plot, the text of the comic narrative also exhibits specific national features in each of the ethnic groups under consideration; most importantly, the parts that are sung fully correspond to local lullaby traditions. This probably indicates that this narrative is ancient and spread during a period of close contact between Siberian Turkic and Mongol peoples.
