The art of Broderzingers and Ashkenazic folk songs

The formation of the Ashkenazi song folklore strongly depended on the creativity of broderzingers (broder singers), wandering Jewish singers first known in Galicia since the middle of the 19th century. The traditions of broder singers directly influenced the development of Yiddish literature, the appearance and development of Jewish theatre, as well as performance style of modern artistes.
