The Variants of the Toponymic legend about Abyjym bom

In the article variants and legend versions about district Abyjym boom are presented. The earliest record has been made by V. V. Radlov, then G. N. Potanin has published three variants of the toponymic legend «Abymbom». The author of the article compares texts of XIX century with more than thirty variants of this legend, written down by it in villages of Kosh-Agachsky area and also comes to a conclusion that as a result of loss of separate subject motifs and change of system of characters there was a new version of the legend — competition of the daughter of the rich man with the poor man.
