V. Yurlov as a Simbirsk collector of Russian folklore

The article tells about the local Simbirsk history enthusiast V. Yurlov. His biography is compiled on the basis of archival documents and memoirs. We analyze Yurlov’s collecting activities, describe his published works and materials remaining in manuscripts stored in local and central archives, show the generality of Yurlov and other amateur ethnographers of Simbirsk in the second half of the 19th century.
