The storyteller of bylinas Kozma Romanov and the Crown Prince Nikolay Aleksandrovich Romanov

The circumstances of 1863 performance by the epic singer Kozma Romanov (from Onega region) in front of Crown Prince Nikolay Aleksandrovich (1843—1865) are restored in the article. It was the first among others folk singer’s concerts which have taken place since 1871 upon the initiative of A. F. Gilferding. The author defines the scientific activity of I. P. Hrushchov who was the initiator of the concert, and tells about a special place that folklore and traditional culture had in education of the Imperial Family members
