«In sandals and under an umbrella»: the life of Chinese in the Middle Urals in the beginning of the 20th century

The author reviews the situation in Perm government concerning the Chinese deported in the times of First World War. Basing on archival data that has not been published before, the author describes the social composition of the way they adapted to the Russian society. The author pays special attention to the attitude of the local population to the newcomers.
