The mythical culture hero Sartakpay in the mythology of the Turkic and Mongolian peoples

The paper is devoted to legends of the Turkic and Mongolian peoples the mythical culture hero Sartakpay. A comparative analysis of their subjects showed the commonalities of the image of the hero with the character of the Chinese mythology ancient, the flood suppressor Dar Yuy. Relation of the name Sartakpay to the name of the animal suggests that the myth of this hero formed on the basis of the archaic myth of the demiurge — totem animal.
