This article is devoted to the study of the wedding ritual complex of the Kazakhs of the Omsk region and its specific local manifestations. The wedding ceremony is considered in the context of ethnic culture and has an elaborate, multi-part structure including a contract (qalyndyқ ayttyru), matchmaking (kuda tүsy), small feasts (qudalyk), wedding feast (on the occasion of the marriage of a daughter — kyz uzatu toi, or on the occasion of the marriage of a son — uylenu toi), and an official visit of the young couple to the parents of the wife (tөrkendeu). The author substantiates the idea that today almost all of the traditional elements of the wedding ceremony of the Omsk Kazakhs have been preserved in altered form, adapted to surrounding conditions. The most striking of these include the custom of “syrga tagar,” the ritual of showering sweets and coins or “shashu,” the custom of “kalta ashu” and “korzhyn ashu,” the tradition of eating the ritual dish “kuryk-bauyr,” the tradition of giving gifts to matchmakers, the ceremony of “saukele,” the ritual of introducing the bride to the groom’s relatives (“betashar”), and others. The study reveals that in modern conditions, significant changes are taking place in the wedding ceremony of the Omsk Kazakhs, which have led not only to the modification and transformation of its constituent elements, but also to the complete disappearance of some features of the past
