Inscriptions on Traditional Towels of XIX — the First Half XX Century

In the article the existing of inscriptions on traditional towels XIX — the first half of XX centuries is considered. Uniqueness of this phenomenon consists that in national embroideries the text was used as information system and as an element of decorative registration of this textile thing. The embroidered text as a visual metaphor of a word replaced a traditional ornament and gave a towel with special sacral sense.
