The image of family genealogy in some South Slavic riddles about of vines

Paper deals with the complex representation of vines (transformation of vines, grape, wine and brandy) and some other plants (hops, chestnut) in traditional riddles with a similar text structure in the form of family genealogy (grandparents — parents — children). The religious symbolism of grapes and wine reflected in traditional riddles was also researed. As a starting point the corpus of Serbian riddles collected by Stojan Novakovic in 1877 was used, with some South Slavic and Balkan riddles added.
