Image of «alien» cemeteries and «alien» funeral rites (following expeditions of 2009—2010 to Ivano-Frankovsk and Transcarpathian regions of Ukraine)

The article deals with the Ukrainians’ views to Jewish burial ritual and cemeteries. The image of the ethnic neighbor has a stereotypical character, these ideas have great stability and coexist with to the real knowledge and memories. The description of an “alien” funeral rites presents ambivalent attitude to ethnic neighbors.
