Historical songs on the Patriotic War of 1812 and the formation of Russia’s national and state identity

The historical song views a national state, an imagery community, as a nation rather than a state. Multinational Russia in authors’ texts appears as the Russian state, whereas in historical songs it is the Russian nation, i.e., the Cossacks.
