Funeral traditions of Siberian Belorussians

On the basis of ethnographic materials collected in areas densely populated by Belorussians in the Omsk region, the author reconstructs the funeral rites and customs that existed among Siberian Belorussians in the twentieth century. We consider semantics of ritual actions and analyze the features of Irtysh Belorussians’s funeral traditions compared to Belorussians from other areas of Siberia and Belarus itself.
