This article focuses on the rules of conduct that must be followed when dealing with strangers. The knowledge of a standard is a means of self-identification, regulates the possible contacts with outsiders, and has a protective function. Rules of interaction with the “strangers” is a means of preserving the member identity of a particular group; this was the way people contrasted themselves with representatives of other communities.
