The article deals with traditional oral narratives about Nicholas II, collected in the southern part of N. Novgorod region, the folk interpretation of the Russian tsar in historical, spiritual and utopian legends and its reflection in the traditional toponymy. The research has been carried out in the framework of the study of the historical memory of the local people.
