On a calendar taboo of the Slavs: the spindle and the snake

There is an established relationship between a thing,its mythological representation (taboo), and a holiday” in the complex of folk calendar. Several aspects of this issue are discussed in the present article as exemplified in the taboo to see a spindle on certain calendar days under the threat of the encounter with a snake.
