Stereotypes of native Moscow inhabitants about newcomers

This article treats some stereotypes used by native Moscow inhabitants to characterize newcomers or visitors to Moscow, as well as stereotypes used by representatives of these two groups to characterize themselves. The author examines the complex of grounds associated with the perception of the “other one”, treats images of Moscow inhabitants in eyes of newcomers and vice versa, and traces changes in relations between newcomers and natives of Moscow in the last 150—200 years.
